Just switching (again)
Edit: I ended up using Astro. I’ll probably move between these setups briefly to see what each has to offer. But in case you landed here and something seems off: yes, it’s either Astro or Eleventy. Here are versions that should still work, with GitHub Pages and Netlify links if you’re curious:
- Original site (worked more hours on design, early site): psantalla.github.io/pablosantalla.com
- Version 2.0 (Eleventy setup): psantalla.github.io/pablosantalla.com-2.0/
- Current site (Astro, deployed on Netlify): pablosantalla.netlify.app
I’m getting back to Obsidian for writing down thoughts, and this post was actually written there. Thanks to some behind-the-scenes voodoo, it gets published straight to this site. Cheers to Frank Noirot for the idea.
The reason for using it hasn’t changed: keeping notes in Markdown, a format I can always move or migrate if needed. Inspired by Steph Ango’s File over App philosophy — focus on creating files you control, not on the tool itself.
I guess I’ll figure out how to design this place in a way that feels right, functionally and aesthetically. But that’s a whole other story. Fun.
